The Three Most Obvious Weight Loss Principles

The Three Most Obvious Weight Loss Principles

[fusion_text]Many people who approach the area of weight loss have it all backward. They believe if the workout plan is good enough, the fat will drip off their bodies. But that’s not how weight loss really works. To be successful you need three timeless weight loss principles.

Don’t worry this isn’t another article on silly weight loss stuff. These principles make the difference between success and failure.

Because people don’t follow workout programs perfectly. They follow their own habits and tend to let instant gratification get the best of them.( Sleep habits are an example of a habit you probably don’t think about.)

Our workout programs are an important piece of the pie but the main course comes before the dessert.

Having an understanding of the core weight loss principles that have been helping people lose weight for centuries changes your whole approach to losing weight.

These three weight loss principles will change your life if you adopt and implement them.

Weight Loss Principles #1 – Be Consistent

If you want results you need to show up. Have you ever signed up for a gym membership and used it once but never came back?

If you haven’t, you know someone who did. If we want to lose weight it’s not about showing up to one workout and crushing it. It’s about showing up consistently and working out.

Using these weight loss principles may mean you don’t get the best workout everyday but that’s normal. What if you were consistent and did 4-7 workouts in a week, that’s better than barely making it to the gym once.

The Fit Freak family adopts the 90% Rule. This means we comply 90% of the time to optimal results and 10% of the time to what suits our fancy.

If you eat 3-4 meals a day that’s about 28 meals total per weekly. That means three meals a week can be whatever suits your fancy. Go for the cake three times a week by all means but be consistent the other 90% of the time.

Weight Loss Principles #2 – Effort, Effort, Effort

Effort scares people away that haven’t fully committed yet. Effort equals pain in the eyes of a newly committed Fit Freak. Pain is scary and our self protection mechanism runs the opposite way. Being constantly aware of your effort levels is needed in this new commitment time period.

Do not think before doing, only do! You committed, stick to it and do it! We don’t call these weight loss principles for nothing, this is a fundamental truth.

Don’t expect to show up and half ass your way though the workouts and get something out of them. Make yourself work and take yourself out of your comfort zone.

Yes, this will be uncomfortable but you can always commit to one more rep or one more set. I use a 5-4-3-2-1 count in my head and then say to myself, “Time to work, I am a child of God, I can do this!”

Use a mantra or phrase that you find empowering and identify with at your core. Trust me this works really well.

Do this and progress will be constant.

Note: This is my promise to you with the workouts I write but I can’t speak for someone else’s.

Why do I know this? Because I do these workouts everyday. I commit to, “one more!”

That’s why I’m sitting here in the clouds yelling down at you. Just kidding I don’t think I’m all that.

I’m just sharing with you what works for me and every single client that I’ve seen get results. The ball is in your court now.

Sometimes to stay sane you need to turn the dial down or up, read about that here.

Weight Loss Principles #3 – Get Better Every Day

Don’t get comfortable! Comfort breads unhappiness and displeasure. If you push a little forward every single day you won’t notice the person looking in the mirror in one month, let alone a year.

Maybe you start with a wall sit. Progress to a wall squat and then a prisoner squat. Keep evolving and putting distance between the new you and the old you. Breath hard! Grunt! Sweat your tail feathers off! Whatever it takes! Then you’ll know for sure, you got better that day.

Consistency, effort, and getting better every day doesn’t seem to difficult on paper but you will be challenged. Your brain will try to rationalize, “I don’t need this.” Never forget why you started and you’ll always have a yellow brick road to follow.
